ARENACROSS
AMSOIL ARENACROSS SERIES
FINAL ROUND / MAY 2, 2015
SOUTH POINT ARENA / LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
P110
title. First, he put down the top
qualifying time, landing him one
point toward the championship.
That's a very valuable point be-
cause it meant that if Hayes and
Regal traded wins and finished
second in the other of two main
events, Regal would win the title.
Hayes had to beat Regal in both
mains to guarantee himself the
championship.
MAIN 1
Hayes' teammate Chris Blose
took the early lead while Regal
moved into second and Hayes
into third. Regal worked on
Blose for the first half-dozen laps
while Hayes seemed relatively
patient behind them. Heading
into lap seven, Blose went down
at the end of the whoops, and
Regal had nowhere to go. He
hit Blose and went down, while
Hayes managed to sneak past
the carnage and into the lead.
"Chris got squirrelly in the
whoops and went down," Regal
said. "I didn't have anywhere
to go and I went down. It
was just—pick it up as fast as
you can. Luckily I'm riding a
Husqvarna, it's got an electric
start or else we'd be about 15-
20 spots back farther."
Regal got up in third behind
Yamaha's Bobby Kiniry and
spent time working his way back
up to second. Regal made a
mad dash through the whoops
on the final lap in a last-ditch
attempt at passing Hayes for
the win, but came up just short.
Hayes won officially by about a
half-second over Regal.
MAIN 2
Regal's front end was twisted in
the first race, but he obviously
had his bike repaired between
mains. KTM's Gared Steinke
Regal savors the moment.
