WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Bisceglia—who might've been
wearing the biggest smile of all
on the night—third.
Bisceglia, the 2013 AMA Mo-
tocross Horizon Award winner,
found his way onto the podium
for the first time this season. The
Texan probably could not have
picked a better time to do it, too,
with the best of both worlds on
the track at the same time.
And he didn't just luck into it,
either—he worked hard for it. He
slid out while leading the West
qualifier and was run over by
Alex Martin and had to ride the
East/West LCQ, where he fin-
ished second to the same rider,
Martin. And then he fought his
way up to the front after getting a
bad start in the Shootout, where
he battled (and bumped) his
teammate and 2014 AMA Moto-
cross Horizon Award winner RJ
Hampshire, of all people, late in
the race before nabbing the final
spot on the podium.
"My first podium of the season
feels great," Bisceglia said. "I
was screaming coming over the
finish line jump I was so stoked.
I had to work for it. I came from
a long ways back, came through
the LCQ—the day didn't start off
well but it ended well and that's
all that matters, I'm happy. I
nailed the rhythm sections—they
were really tough—nearly every
lap, that was my strongpoint to-
night. I just hit my marks and did
what I had to do to get up front.
It's been a good year, my riding
coach Billy and my trainer Tyler
never gave up on me, I can't
thank them enough."
A NOT-SO ROOKIE RIDE
On the same day as the race,
the AMA announced that Ya-
malube/Star Racing Yamaha's
Aaron Plessinger was the 2015
Supercross Rookie of the Year,
and that must've lit a fire under
the young YZ250F pilot. Pless-
inger didn't get a very good jump
off the gate and completed the
first lap of the Shootout in 12
th
place, but the rider from Ohio
put in one heck of a charge, tak-
ing full advantage of the long lap
times. He charged up to fourth
place and was only four sec-
onds behind Bisceglia when the
checkered flag came out. It was
an impressive ride by the new
star rookie.
Fifth went to Autotrader.com/
Rock River Yamaha rider Alex
Martin, followed by Osborne and
Hampshire, who slipped back
at the end. Hampshire was the
second-best East finisher.
