bunch of little things here and
there that make a huge differ-
ence in the long run. Like I said,
I was really impressed with a
bone-stock bike that I rode. We
got some things in the works to
eventually switch it up and go to
that new chassis for the endu-
ros. We don't quite have the re-
sources to switch everything for
every series right now, but next
year we'll be on that bike. I feel
like it's a good step in the right
direction looking ahead to next
year as well. I'm really excited
to get on that bike. I feel like my
results are going to show for it
when I get on it.
Three years ago you
weren't particularly thrilled
about riding the Six Days.
Now that you have a couple of
them under your belt, do you
still feel the same way?
I feel good about it now. I
(Left) GNCC might be Russell's
specialty but he's now showing
more interest in other types
of racing. (Above) Russell is
undefeated so far this year in the
GNCC series.
don't know what my deal was
two or three years ago not want-
ing to go. I think I was more or
less scared, not ready as a per-
son to go. It's a lot of pressure
and a lot of eyes on you. But
after 2013 I enjoyed it a lot and
kind of left mad and with a bad
taste in my mouth. I was ready
to get back and improve on that.
Last year I did well in desert con-
ditions. I ended up getting third
overall. I got second in the E2
class. I'm really looking forward
to this year. It's going to be more
typical to East Coast terrain. I'm
not sure that the team's been
announced yet, but I kind of
know who's on it. I feel like we
have a good team and hopefully
everybody can just be solid the
whole six days and eliminate
some mistakes. I think we've got
a team that's capable of winning,
everybody's just got to be on the
same page and not give up and
not let little things get to them.
LIKE LITTLE MISTAKES.
Yeah, I think that's the big-
gest thing. I'm not so sure that
everybody on the team believes
that they can do well and win
because it's such a large scale,
you're racing against so many
good riders. That's where we
need to get the guys as mentally
ready and thinking that they're
capable of producing good
results. If you think you can do
it and you're upset with getting
10th in a test, that's what I like
to see—people get fired up that
