40 years ago… We featured an interview with "The Burrito" Gene Romero…
Charles Morey traveled to Pell City to cover the Alabama Two-Day ISDE Qualifier,
where Ossa-mounted rider Kevin LaVoie came away with the overall win. Frank
Gallo won the Open class… We ran a story called The Anatomy of an Enduro
that described how enduros are produced, at
least through one club's experience… We ran
spy photos of a Can-Am prototype street bike
that was being tested in Alabama.
30 Years Ago May 8, 1985
Freddie Spencer was pictured on the cover 30 years ago to accompany
our interview with the Rothmans Honda Team rider who was hoping to win
back the 500cc World Championship title… Ron Lechien won both main
events to claim the overall win at the Orlando Supercross; Larry Brooks
won the 125cc Pro-Am main event… Kevin Schwantz won the second
round of the AMA Superbike Series at Willow Springs… Eddie Lawson had
little troubles winning the Imola 200.

Yoshimura Suzuki's Mat Mladin could do little wrong at the AMA Superbike
at Barber where he won both races… Troy Croser won the World Superbike
in Spain… Stefan Everts continued to dominate the MXGP scene by winning
again in Portugal… The Yamaha YZ125 won our 125cc Motocross Shoot-
out… We made the trek to Las Vegas to cover the NMA World Mini Grand
Prix and the standout amateur racer was Josh Hill… Nathan Woods made
it two wins in a row in the WORCS series after winning the latest round in
Payette, Idaho.
20 Years Ago May 3, 1995
Mickael Pichon and Jeremy McGrath were featured on the cover 20 years
ago—Pichon for clinching the 125cc East Supercross title and McGrath for
winning his eighth 250cc main event at the Charlotte Supercross… Rich
Oliver also got a piece of the cover for winning a Formula USA race at Willow
Springs… We covered the Japanese Grand Prix where Daryl Beattie emerged
the big winner… Prescott, Arizona, hosted a round of the National Trials Series
where Ryan Young came from behind to win…
We covered the 24-Hours of LeMans.
