and win [now that the champion-
ship is wrapped up]," Webb said.
"We were fastest qualifier, we
won the Heat and now got the
Main event win, so everything
is definitely clicking right now.
We'll go ride some outdoors, get
ready for that Championship and
try to come back for Vegas and
show them the West is the best,
I guess!" CN

Briefly...
For those of you paying attention,
there was some controversy fol-
lowing the Anaheim 3 Supercross
this year, after the 250cc main event
was restarted because of a starting-
gate malfunction after five laps had
already been completed. Anaheim 3
featured an elevated start gate, and
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Zach
Osborne's gate didn't fall at the start
of the 250cc main event. At least
partially because no officials were
properly positioned to verify proper
operation of the starting gate, it took
five laps for the officials to review film
of the incident and determine that,
indeed, Osborne's gate did malfunc-
tion. Because it took so long, mo-
torcycles had to be refueled, racers
had expended quite a lot of energy,
and frustration was the order of the
day. In Santa Clara, it happened
again, except without resolution: At
the start of the 450cc main event,
privateer Kyle Partridge's gate—lo-
cated on the far inside of the starting
gate—didn't fall all the way down, and
as his front wheel crossed the gate,
that caused the gate to bounce up
even higher, catching the undercar-
riage of Partridge's CRF450R and
nearly throwing him over the bars.
Complaints were lodged during the
main event, but according to Par-
tridge's older brother—and former
amateur-MX standout—Jason, of-
ficials took the complaints under
review and determined the gate fell
as expected. However, late in the
main event, even the Fox Sports 1 TV
broadcast clearly showed that Par-
tridge's gate didn't fall as it should
have. Still, Partridge—who nearly
qualified for the main event out of his
heat race—fought his way back up to
13th at the finish.
