2015 DUCATI MULTISTRADA 1200S
FIRST RIDE

lean-angle sensor, which also
allows an upgraded DTC trac-
tion control system and separate
DWC anti-wheelie function, as
with Ducati's 1299 Panigale
sports bike. How necessary the
DWC really is on a bike of this
nature is questionable. Probably
it's only there "because we can!"
The slightly taller screen—
which as before is easily height-
adjustable on the move over
nearly a 2.5 inch vertical range—
does a good if not completely
flawless job of deflecting the
breeze, allowing for relaxed
high-speed mileating. That is
also enhanced by the easy-to-
operate cruise control included
as standard on both versions of
the model, that's accessible via
controls incorporated in the left
handlebar's switchgear.
The new lower seat is roomier
and height-adjustable for the first
time over a 20mm range be-
tween 32.5 and 33.3 inches, as
well as being 1.6 inches narrow-
er at the front, allowing an easier
reach to the ground, and also
20mm longer. The wide, tapered
handlebar also optimizes com-
fort, and provides a dominant
riding position without compro-
mising agility. The steering lock
has been increased for greater
maneuverability in tight places,
making the Multistrada more at
"IT OFFERED WHAT
WAS ESSENTIALLY
FOUR BIKES IN
ONE FOR THE VERY
FIRST TIME—
FROM SUPERSPORT
ROADBURNER TO
LONG-DISTANCE
TOURER, FROM
EVERYDAY COMMUTER
TO DIRT ROADS
ENDURO."
