COMA LEADS THE WAY
AT QATAR SEALINE RALLY
T
he 2015 FIM Cross-Coun-
try Rallies World Cham-
pionship is already into its
second round with the Qatar
Sealine Cross-Country Rally
officially underway. After the
first of five days of competi-
tion, Red Bull KTM's Marc
Coma leads the way. The two-
time Sealine Rally winner set
the quickest time in the first
stage, but not by much, as
HRC's Joan Barreda finished
only six seconds behind.
"It was a positive first special
stage, although I did make a
small navigation mistake in the
final part," Coma said. "But in
the end we took the stage win
and it is always important to
start with positive feelings. It is
very different from Abu Dhabi,
with more demanding naviga-
tion and lots of stones. Tomor-
row will be a very long special."
Barreda also had naviga-
tional complications, which
prevented him from winning
the stage. "I was opening the
way with Viladoms," Barreda
explained. "The navigation was
difficult and to make things
worse I had a problem with the
GPS. I had to wait for Paolo
[Goncalves] and I was able
to make it through to the end
without any trouble. It was a
shame as we lost some valu-
able minutes in the final part.
Let's see how the rest of the
race turns out."
The Qatar Sealine Rally will
put riders through over 1000
miles of timed sections.
