ELLISON DOUBLES UP
F
ormer MotoGP rider James
Ellison (JG Speedfit Kawa-
saki ZX-10R) has broken through
for his first ever British Super-
bike Championship double vic-
tory at Brands Hatch Indy over
the April 18-19 weekend.
Ellison was in dominant form
on the shortened Brands Hatch
Indy layout, taking pole position
and developing early leads in
both races only for accidents
to cause repeated safety car
delays. Despite the setbacks,
Ellison steadily pulled away from
the chasing pack to secure his
victories and firmly put his name
back in contention for the BSB
title at a track where four-time
and defending champion, Shane
Byrne, is a renowned specialist.
Byrne and his Rapid Solicitors
Kawasaki took a pair of second
places, while Milwaukee Ya-
maha's Australian protagonist
Josh Brookes came away with
3-3 results.
"We came here after Don-
ington Park where we were so
unlucky after winning the first
race and then having a problem
in race two, so this is a really
good feeling," Ellison said. "This
weekend has been the best I've
ever done and now I hope we
can keep it going like this across
the year because in other sea-
sons we have started strongly
but have not been able to hold
it together. It is a good feeling
to walk away from Brands Hatch
with two wins."
Byrne still leads the 2015
British Superbike Championship
on 85 points from Ellison on 79
with Brookes third on 58.
In the Supersport category,
Kyle Ryde and Luke Stapleford
shared the victories while Ameri-
can James Rispoli came away
with a DNF and fifth place on his
Team Traction Control Yamaha
YZF-R6. Rispoli sits 10th in the
standings on 20 points, 66
behind leader title Stapleford on
86 points.
James Ellison is
proving to be Byrne's
number one title rival
after a dominant
display at Brands
Hatch Indy.
