IN THE WIND P30 BMW Motorrad is slicing its way through 2015 with its best quarter ever. already set-up in the pit garages for the most recent round of the Superbike World Championship at Assen in the Netherlands. "I think that we have a great sponsor in Hero and the indi- cations are that they want to continue," Pegram stated on Thursday, April 16 at Assen. I only know what is going on with the race team. I do not know the situation in the U.S. whatsoever, and I do not know what exactly anybody is going to do but the indications that I heard is that we will continue." Cycle News made repeated attempts to contact Erik Buell since the April 15 announcement for further comment with no success, however, just moments before Cycle News went to "print," Buell released the follow- ing comments via Facebook. "Unfortunately, in the end, we tried to do too much with too little funding, but it doesn't diminish the accomplishments. We introduced the world-class American superbikes of 1190RS, 1190RX and 1190SX while at the same time doing revolutionary work for Hero on the HX250R, Leap, SimplEcity, iON, RnT and many others, plus concepts never publicly seen. It was great EBR innovation and design, and introduced new technology to Hero and its suppliers to provide a real kickstart for them. But in the end all of this simply over- whelmed us, and for that we are sorry and saddened. I want you to know that looking ahead my focus is 100 percent on helping the receiver best maximize the value from EBR to benefit all, and I will make every possible effort to get the new organiza- tion to where it can support the dealers and customers first, and then help find investment to get back to full throttle. Thank you for your support, it means a great deal. Please stay tuned—I cannot predict the future, but always believe the best is yet to come." No official word has come from Hero regarding its stake in the EBR concern. Rennie Scaysbrook and Gordon Ritchie BEST EVER FOR BMW B MW Motorrad has recorded its highest selling quarter in the com- pany's history with 31,370 motorcycles delivered to customers, resulting in a 9.2 percent sales increase over the first quarter last year. Germany continues to be the strongest market for Bavarian Mo- tor Werks with 5369 units finding homes, however outside of Germany, the America's love for the brand is as strong as ever, with the USA second on 3229 units, followed by France, Italy and Great Britain. "We are reaching more and more customers all over the world with our highly emotional brand and our attrac- tive, sporty bikes," said Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing. "In the first three months we recorded growth in nearly all sales regions. We continue to remain on a course of growth and are aim- ing at surpassing the record results achieved in 2014 again."
