SUPERSTOCK 1000 SURPRISE
Maybe the story of the weekend
in Superstock 1000 was the
win by Josh Day in race one.
Day came in at the last-minute
to fill the seat of the late Dane
Westby that was occupied in
COTA by Geoff May. Day proved
a quick learner riding the Yama-
lube Westby R1 to victory in the
Superstock 1000 race one over
Tyler O'Hara and Taylor Knapp.
He finished fourth overall among
the Superbikes.
"I can't thank these guys
enough for giving me the oppor-
tunity to come out and ride their
bike this weekend," Day said.
"Hopefully we'll be able to do the
whole year. I really want to thank
Tryg [Westby] for giving me the
honor of riding the bike."
In race two it was RoadRace
Factory Yamaha rider Jake
Gagne recovering from a fall in
race one to take victory ahead of
O'Hara and Knapp. Gagne was
third overall. The win puts Gagne
atop the standings by nine points
over O'Hara (75-66). Dustin
Dominguez, who went 8-5 this
weekend is third in the series
with 59 points.
