MOTOAMERICA GETS LIVE STREAMING
I
n a rather unique agreement,
MotoAmerica reached a deal
with the previous sanctioning
body AMA Pro Racing (DMG)
to provide live streaming for the
races this year. Negotiations
were hot and heavy at Road
Atlanta and were going on right
up until the first race.
To some it seems surprising
that the old and new regimes
worked together to get this deal
done, but insiders say that in
spite of what was rumored to be
contentious negotiations over
the Daytona 200, DMG's Jim
France has made it clear to his
folks at DMG that they are to
do everything possible to help
make MotoAmerica successful.
It appears that they took his di-
rection to heart and came to the
rescue of MotoAmerica to pro-
duce the live streaming, which
will be featured on Torque.tv
(Superbike) and FansChoice.tv
(support classes).
No one wanted to go on re-
cord, because reportedly some
areas of the agreement were
still being worked out, but the
last-minute negotiations were
brought on by fan outcry and
Road Atlanta management, who
were apparently not happy to
find out the races would not be
available live.
Regardless of how it came
down, most riders said they
were happy to see live streaming
added to the already in place,
tape-delayed coverage on CBS
Sports Network.
"All of us at Torque.TV and
Motor Trend are delighted to
extend our partnership of North
America's premier motorcycle
road racing series—MotoAmer-
ica—by providing live stream-
ing of MotoAmerica races,"
said Roger Werner, founder of
TorqueTV.
FLAT TRACK RACING ADDED TO X GAMES
T
his year's X Games gets a new act—Harley-Davidson Flat-Track Racing. The inaugural race is an
invitational format, with riders from the AMA Grand National Championship and around the world
will have a shot at earning gold at ESPN's X Games Austin at the Circuit of The Americas on June 4. In
addition to the coveted X Games gold medal, the winner will also be awarded with a brand-new Harley-
Davidson Street 750 motorcycle.
"This is great for our sport," said former Grand National Champion Brad Baker. "X Games is about
performance, and flat-track racing is the
perfect addition to this competition, al-
lowing athletes from around the world to
showcase just how they push the bound-
aries in their sport."
Harley-Davidson sponsored two flat-
track exhibitions last year, and thousands
of fans took to social media to express
their excitement for the sport.
The Harley-Davidson Flat-Track Racing
competition is scheduled to air on ESPN
at 9 p.m. (EST), June 4.
