ROUND 2/APRIL 19, 2015
ROAD ATLANTA/BRASELTON, GEORGIA
P104
FIRST SWEEP FOR BEAUBIER
Road Atlanta marked the first
premier class sweep for sopho-
more Superbike rider Beau-
bier. In race one he zipped by
Roger Hayden just has Hayden
crashed under braking on the
back straight. From there he
pulled away to a 4.699-sec-
ond victory over Hayes. In the
second race—as crashes took
out both Hayes and Hayden—
Beaubier patiently waited behind
Jake Lewis, then made his move
and gradually pulled away to a
3.789-second lead.
The weekend was not only
important in terms of opening
up a massive 30-point lead over
Hayes (95-65), he said a week-
end's worth of riding in the rain
or wet-dry conditions improved
him as a rider.
"It was good for my confi-
dence to come in here and get
up to speed in the wet," Beaubi-
er said. "I struggled quite a bit in
the wet last year in the few out-
ings we had. So to get two wins
in the wet sketchy conditions is
super good for my confidence.
The first race I was just clicking
off laps and about wadded it a
couple of times coming off the
back straight into that chicane.
I just kept going, getting a feel
for the wet and obviously I didn't
want to throw it down and I kept
clicking off laps.
Mother nature put
the Superbike/
Superstock 1000
riders to the test
as well as the new
race series.
