MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 2/APRIL 12, 2015
CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS/AUSTIN, TEXAS
P58
Lorenzo blamed his physical
condition (bronchitis, antibiotics)
for a second below-par result.
Smith was an excellent sixth,
still only a couple of seconds
adrift, and better than five
ahead of CWM Honda's Cal
Crutchlow—his British rival—to be
top satellite rider.
Crutchlow had been delayed
by the Redding-Espargaro crash
on lap one. "I lost nearly five
seconds." He finally caught and
then passed Espargaro's Suzuki
by half distance for seventh.
The second Suzuki was eighth
for a double top 10, after an im-
pressive run by last year's Moto2
race winner Maverick Vinales,
who caught and passed Danilo
Petrucci on the Pramac Ducati
for the position.
Pedrosa replacement Hiro
Aoyama (on the other Repsol
Honda) held off a persistent
challenge from Avintia Ducati's
Hector Barbera.
Almost 10 seconds away, the
battle raged for the back end
of the points, and the honor of
Bradley Smith (38) was
the top finishing satellite
team bike in sixth.
