IN THE WIND P36 REGAL ON A ROLL T he Amsoil Arenacross Series resumed with its first-ever visit to Spokane, Washington, April 11. Amid all the wild racing and close finishes, Husqvarna TiLUBE TUF Racing's Kyle Regal is emerging as the lead title con- tender. Claiming his sixth overall win of the season, and his sec- ond straight win, Regal has dem- onstrated that he is the rider to beat in the playoff-inspired Race to the Championship. In the Lites division, a steady performance in the main event led Motosport.com KTM's Dan- iel Blair to the Western Regional Arenacross Lites Championship. It marked the first Arenacross Championship of his career for the veteran rider. In the first AX main event, Jacob Hayes grabbed the holeshot and the early lead. He held on to the lead for most of the race until Matt Goerke struck. Goerke made contact with Hayes in an attempt to overtake the lead, which sent Hayes to the ground. He re- bounded quickly in fifth place; while Goerke inherited the lead and went on to take the win. Chris Blose followed in a close second with Regal rounding out the top-three. The "full inversion" was selected for the second main event, meaning that gates were picked in the reverse order. The field was effectively shuffled as a result, with Motosport.com KTM's Gared Steinke emerging with the early lead. Regal got a third-place start, while Hayes and Blose were near the back of the field. Kiniry and Goerke quickly worked their way into the top-five, but made contact with each other, sending them both to the ground. They got up, only to repeat the incident, which set them back even further. Meanwhile, Steinke held on for the win with Regal moving up to second by the checkered flag. Regal's 3-2 win gave him the overall with Gavin Faith in second with a 4-3. Blose rounded out the podium with his 2-5 score. Kiniry carded fifth overall with a 1-10. Cory Green was fourth with a 7-4 tally. In the Lites class, Steven Mages took the main event win ahead of Dave Ginolfi and Dan- iel Blair. But it was Blair's night, as he used his third-place finish to cement the Western Region Arenacross Lites Championship. Jean Turner Motosport.com KTM's Daniel Blair claimed the Western Region Aren- across Lites Champion- ship with his third-place finish.
