RUSSELL TOPS BIG BUCK GNCC
K
ailub Russell is off to a per-
fect start in the 2015 Amsoil
Grand National Cross Country
Series after claiming his fourth
straight win of the young series.
His latest success came at the
Big Buck GNCC in Union, South
Carolina, April 12, where the fac-
tory FMF/KTM Team rider domi-
nated the racing action once
again.
Russell got things started
by capturing the $250 All Balls
Racing Holeshot award and,
from there, he pretty much
never looked back. He survived
a couple of crashes on the first
lap, allowing Rockstar Energy
Racing Husqvarna's Josh Strang
to get close to him, but, after
that, Russell found his rhythm,
pulled away and took the win
with a comfortable 41 seconds
over Strang.
"I crashed on the opening
lap in a pretty fast section but
was able to recover quickly and
didn't lose the lead," said Rus-
sell. [The second crash] I kind of
Lawn-Darted myself into a tree
and that one hurt. I still man-
aged to get going without losing
my lead, but I had to charge
hard throughout the remaining
laps to put a gap on the field
again."
The victory was Russell's 26
th
of his career, tying him with Ed
Lojak on the all-time motorcycle
win list.
Strang has finished second
in the first four rounds and trails
Russell by 20 points in the
championship.
The rider on the move all
day was Yamaha rider Grant
Baylor. He worked his way up
through the pack, eventually
Kailub Russell (1) grabbed the early lead and never
looked back at the Big Buck GNCC in South Carolina.
He's won every round so far this season.
