L
ike two heavyweight con-
tenders Josh Hayes and
Cameron Beaubier faced off
at the Circuit of The Americas
for the big debut of the new U.S.
Superbike series—MotoAmerica
FIM/AMA North American Road
Racing Championship. In the
end it was a draw, with a win
each for both Monster Energy
Graves Yamaha teammates.
For the reigning Daytona
Sportbike champ (the former
series' version of Supersport
class) Jake Gagne, it was his big
debut on a 1000. And it was a
great one at that, with a pair of
fourth-place finishes overall and
the double win in the Superstock
1000 class.
EXPERIENCE RULES THE DAY
It was definitely a tale of two
races; even though the com-
mon theme was hit the ground
running, with the limited track
time that comes as part of the
territory with being the MotoGP
sideshow for the weekend.
It also meant being flexible
to mother nature, which has
always been known to be fickle.
Especially in Texas. So when
the Superbikes had to grid up
for the race in the rain with only
a couple laps before the lights
Josh Hayes (1) and
Cameron Beaubier (6) split
wins at MotoAmerica's
Superbike debut at the
Circuit of The Americas.
