when the start was delayed—
eventually by almost 40 minutes.
Although threatened rain had
held off and the earlier races
had been mainly dry, with a few
awkward light sprinkles, now a
sudden and mysterious leak or
spillage or condensation had left
a wet stripe under an over-track
pedestrian bridge. It had to be
dried leaving riders in the pits
worrying whether the rain would
continue to stay away.
The race was full distance,
and did stay dry, but heavy rain
overnight had changed the
surface, and robbed it of grip,
as Marquez explained: "I was
not able to push 100 percent."
Iannone's fastest lap of the race
was a full seven tenths short of
the record.
Movistar Yamaha's Rossi
agreed.
