INTERVIEW
TEAM HONDA HRC'S COLE SEELY
P72
Seely seems to be right
there in the mix for a podium
finish, week in and week out.
But when asked what it's
going to take to make that
next jump to the top step of
the podium, Seely replies
experience.
"I think the biggest dif-
ference is just his experience," says
Seely. "Dungey's a multi-time past
champion. He's won championships
before, same thing with Eli. I come
from a little bit different background,
but every year I'm improving. I'm on
the up. Every year I get better and
better and better. These guys have
already been to the top and then
come down and go back up to the
top. I'm taking a little bit different path
than those guys, so it's hard to com-
pare myself to them. I think Dungey
is just on it. He's got a solid program
and he's got a ton of experi-
ence in this class. Me being
relatively new, especially to all
17 rounds, it's probably the big-
gest difference. And this year
is such a huge learning experi-
ence, I think next year is really
the year that I'm going to come
out swinging and really just be
a contender for the title. This year I
really just wanted to get back on the
podium and show my speed. Honestly
it's gone way better than I expected it
to. I think once I get some more expe-
rience I'll be even better off."
Seely had his share of wins last
year in the East Regional 250 class,
but came up just a little short of the
title, which left him a bit disappointed.
Yeah, I was disappointed a little
bit," says Seely. "The class is so
stacked. You look at all the names;
it's pretty crazy how many fast guys
"IT'S GONE
WAY BETTER
THAN I
EXPECTED IT
TO. I THINK
ONCE I GET
SOME MORE
EXPERIENCE
I'LL BE EVEN
BETTER OFF."
Seely has been
representing
Kevin Windham's
old number well.
Both Seely and
Windham have
similar riding
styles: smooth
and fluid.
