IN THE WIND P34 Both the Ducati teams lose their two-liter fuel concession. Factory Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso (4) and Pramac Ducati's Danilo Petrucci (9) pictured here. PHOTOGRAPHY BY GOLD & GOOSE DUCATI LOSES PART OF CONCESSIONS A fter the Ducati Team's results at the Grand Prix of Qatar, the team lost its Factory Option two-liter fuel advantage and has been reduced from 24 to 22 li- ters (6.3 to 5.8 gallons). This was a result of the fact that Ducati Factory option ma- chines have now achieved three podiums in dry conditions since the start of the 2014 season: Dovizioso's third place in Austin 2014, his second place in Qatar 2015 and his teammate Ian- none's third place in the same race. Effective immediately, the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas until the end of the 2015 sea- son, the reduced fuel allowance applies to Ducati machines en- tered under the Factory Option, which include the Ducati Team's Dovizioso and Iannone, as well as Pramac Racing Team's Danilo Petrucci and Yonny Hernandez. The Avintia Racing Open en- tries of Hector Barbera and Mike Di Meglio are not affected. While Ducati has lost the fuel concession, they still main- tain the other Factory Option concessions—the use of Open Class softer option tires and testing with contracted riders. They will maintain that unless they win three races in dry con- ditions. After Qatar the MotoGP com- mission redefined the criteria for losing concessions to be based on "Concession Points." The points are: three points for first place, two points for second and one point for third. The change in 2016 will be the immediate loss of all con- cessions with six concession points total, in dry or wet condi- tions, and will lose all conces- sions from the following season. However, any manufacturer who gains no concession points, (no podium positions), will benefit from the full package of conces- sions in the following season.
