The Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, California, was a total
mudder, but Kent Howerton managed to endure to take the win… Off-road
legend Larry Roeseler took the 250cc Expert victory at the annual Orange
County Motorcycle Club Grand Prix in Riverside, California. Jim Fishback
was also a winner at the event, taking a win on both days of the event… We

We got an exclusive test aboard the M-Star GM250 30 years ago and it
was pictured in action on the cover 30 years ago… We also tested Su-
zuki's VS700GL Intruder… We finished up our in-depth two-part interview
with motocrosser and former 250 MX World Champion Danny LaPorte…
Brad Lackey came out of retirement and smoked everyone in the Vet class
during the amateur portion of the Hangtown National MX Weekend… Pete
Hames was the big winner at the Gardena
Gold Cup Ascot Half-Mile.

ago for nabbing his first ever Supercross victory in the 250 class; Grant
Langston won the 125cc… Troy Corser had an easy time of it—winning both
legs of the World Superbike round at Philip Island… Stefan Everts and Tyla
Rattray won the MX1 and MX2 class, respectively, at the opening round of
the MXGP Series in Belgium… We previewed the upcoming MotoGP Se-
ries, featuring Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi.

Smokin' Joes Honda's Mike Hale was featured on the cover 20 years
ago for winning the Superbike and 600cc Supersport classes at the L.A.
Superbike Championship at Pomona, California… We reported the passing
of Hideo "Pops" Yoshimura, the founder of Yoshimura Japan… Jay Spring-
steen recorded his 41st career Grand National victory when he won the Po-
