MOTOGP MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1/MARCH 29, 2015 LOSAIL INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT/LOSAIL QATAR P66 Crutchlow's young team- mate Jack Miller had both been ahead of Laverty, but a desperate lunge by Miller on the last lap took both of them out. Marco Melandri was saved from coming last in his Aprilia return when new boy Loris Baz on the other Athina Forward Yamaha pitted for a tire change, finishing three laps down. Second Aprilia rider Bau- tista retired at the end of lap one, his front brake damaged when Marquez had come scything past him. It was a promising start to the year. Ducati is back. Marquez and Honda will need to play catch-up. And the evergreen Rossi leads on points. CN MotoGP 1. Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) 2. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) 3. Andrea Iannone (Ducati) 4. Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) 5. Marc Marquez (Honda) 6. Dani Pedrosa (Honda) 7. Cal Crutchlow (Honda) 8. Bradley Smith (Yamaha) 9. Pol Espargaro (Yamaha) 10.Yonny Hernandez (Ducati) HERO OF THE WEEKEND Gigi Dall'Igna took over at Ducati at the start of last year, and said it would take a year to get the faltering race department back on track. First he had to sort out the organization, and only then re- design the bike. Dovizioso's pole position showed how much progress had been made; second and third in the race underlined the quality of that progress. He has turned red into gold. Gigi Dall'Igna looks to have righted the Ducati ship. An overjoyed Ducati team celebrated its double podium finish with riders Dovizioso (center) and Iannone (right of center).
