VOL. 52 ISSUE 12 MARCH 24, 2015 P39
TIXIER IN TROUBLE
R
eigning MX2 World
Champion Jordi Tixier
is in the doghouse after
physically attacking the
Chief Medical Officer while
being treated for heat
stroke and dehydration at
the Thai Motocross Grand
Prix on March 8. Tixier,
as well as Jeremy Seewar
and Tim Gajser who were
suffering the same condi-
tion, were all declared unfit
to race the second moto
by Chief Medical Officer
and FIM Medical Director
in accordance to the FIM
Medical Code.
Following a hearing
with Tixier present, Race
Direction made the deci-
sion to suspend Tixier for
one month (starting March
8) and impose a fine of
5,000 (roughly $5,475).
Fortunately for Tixier, the
month suspension only
has him missing one round
of the championship, next
weekend's Grand Prix of
Patagonia Argentina.
According to the release
from the Motocross World
Championship, no appeal
was lodged with the FIM
Stewards.
TWO MORE ROUNDS FOR FLAT TRACK
A
MA Pro Racing announced
two additional rounds to the
AMA Pro Flat Track schedule—
the Don Tilley Memorial Char-
lotte Half-Mile and the Delmar
Half-Mile—increasing the total to
16 rounds in 2015.
Returning to Charlotte for the
first time since 2002, the series'
12
th
round takes place at the
Charlotte Motor Speedway on
August 29. The event honors the
late Harley-Davidson racing Icon
Tilley, who passed away last Au-
gust in a motorcycle accident.
On September 19, the AMA
Grand National Championship
also makes a return to Delaware
for what is dubbed the "Roar
on the Shore" at the Delaware
International Speedway. The
event coincides with a popular
motorcycle rally in nearby Ocean
City, Maryland. The last time the
championship raced in Delaware
was the Harrington Half Mile in
2002, which had a history going
back to 1975.
The AMA Grand National
Championship returns to
Delaware and Charlotte,
adding two new half-miles to
the 2015 schedule.
Jordi Tixier was
suspended and fined
for attacking the
Chief Medical Officer
while being treated
in Thailand for heat
stroke.
