FLAT TRACK AMA PRO FLAT TRACK ROUND 1-2/ MARCH 12-13, 2015 DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY/DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA P54 "I started going around people on the outside in the main event. Briar Bauman, they call him the funniest guy here. I've heard that said. I think he's goofy, and he acts just as goofy on the track as he does off the track. So he came in there, he took us both wide all the way to the grass. So I had to pass him around the out- side again along with some other people. I settled into third and rode there most of the race. I was having an issue, just a small little issue. I kept riding through it, riding through it. Then Sam- my, he got around me down in one and two when I just slipped a little wide." Don Kawasaki's Jeffrey Carver Jr. was sixth and like Wiles missed the main event the night before. In seventh was Pearson who was able to hold off a pair of Hondas—JMC Motorsports Jake Constantine and ERT Rod Lake Nazzissi Racing's Chad Cose. Rounding out the top 10 was Johnny Lewis on the 10 Enter- tainment Racing Honda. F I R S T T I M E R S Andrew Luker surprised a lot of people by winning his second race ever competing in the AMA Pro Flat Track's GNC2 division. The Clayton Williams Racing Honda rider led from start to fin- ish and took the win by just over a second ahead of Southerland Racing Honda's John Vander- laan and Dan Bromley aboard the number 54A Bromley Broth- ers KTM. "I'm from California and we run a lot of short tracks so I was hoping to finish at least top five and hopefully take that into the next race," said Luker. "I got a good holeshot from the outside. Turn one and two is a little slick so every time going in there the front end would push a little bit. But everywhere else we had the Honda hookup and it was just a great race overall. We actually didn't make any changes from qualifying. The track kind of came around to what our setup was." Vanderlaan passed the number 44 Southerland Racing Honda of Nick Armstrong to take the runner-up slot, while Brom- ley, who set fastest qualifying time, rounded out the podium while racing with a broken col- larbone. "I had a practice crash on Monday and I broke my col- larbone in half," said Bromley. "We went to the doctor, they just said "wear a sling and see your doctor when you go home." So I thought, if I can wear a sling I can ride a bike. So I took some Aleve and then we rode and we ended up fastest qualifying which was really cool. I'd never done that. After that we went to the heat race. We made some changes that didn't really work. And then for the main event we In the newly dubbed GNC2 class (formerly Pro Singles), Andrew Luker (11Z) and Justin Jones (19B) split wins. Photo Courtesy of AMA Pro Road Racing
