WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 52 ISSUE 11 MARCH 17, 2015 P77 >>250 EAST MAIN MUSQUIN ROLLS ON With series second-place rider Jeremy Martin not making the main, series leader Marvin Musquin had a great opportunity to open up his points lead, and he did just that, pulling away to a crushing 22.351-second margin of victory to earn his third straight win. Musquin said for a second he got a bit confused. He was going along and moni- toring his rivals Justin Bogle and Joey Savatgy behind him, when one lap he came around and didn't see them anymore. "I turned the corner every lap to see where they were and one lap all of a sudden they disap- peared," Musquin said. "It made it kind of a weird race. When you can't see where the second- place rider is, it's sort of tough to know how hard to push it." Musquin got to the front by ex- ecuting one of the tightest turns you're ever likely to see going into the first turn at the start of the 250 East final. Bogle nailed the holeshot and Martin Davalos emerged running up front. Musquin didn't get the greatest of jumps off the gate, but went a long way towards making up for it with his KTM going on rails through turn one. "I can't believe how far I leaned the bike over in that turn," Musquin smiled. "I was proud of myself for making it through like that. It was a bit of a tense mo- ment. I can't wait to see that on TV so I can analyze that." Musquin broke through to take over the lead from Davalos on the second lap while every- one behind him started having trouble leading to the massive margin of victory. Musquin was one of the few riders who said he really liked the track at Indy. "It was soft dirt, technical, I really like that," he said. "The whoops were tough and I ended up jumping through them, 3-3-3, so that was kind of cool." BATTLING FOR THE SCRAPS It was chaos behind the Red Bull KTM rider, Musquin. Early top runners Davalos and Bogle both took tumbles and Savatgy, who was running in third place, suf- fered what appeared to be me- chanical failure and was forced to withdraw; that left Musquin way out front and alone, and with no one to monitor his progress off. Defending champ Bogle recovered from his crash, hav- ing never lost second, and held off RJ Hampshire by a couple of seconds at the flag. Jordon Smith took fourth, making it a second, third and fourth for GEICO Honda. Kyle Cunning- ham rounded out the top five on his AG Motorsports Honda. It marked the first podium for Hampshire and he moved up into fourth place from sixth place in the season standings. "I came into the season with the goal of making every main event, so to be on the podium is a great ac- complishment," said Hampshire. Bogle admitted he might have been trying a little too hard and it bit him. "I jumped off the track over at the finish line and had to do some dicey stuff to get back on the track," Bogle admitted. "I ended up going down pretty hard in the rhythm and then kind of just tried to survive to the end after that. I was pretty banged up. To come out with a second after what I went through, I'll take that." CN 450 MAIN 1. Ryan Dungey (KTM) 2. Cole Seely (Hon) 3. Trey Canard (Hon) 4. Weston Peick (Yam) 5. Davi Millsaps (Kaw) 6.
