VOL. 52 ISSUE 11 MARCH 17, 2015 P101
featured teammates who were more amiable
towards one another.
"With Roger and Jake being good friends we
think they'll be able to freely share information and
feedback with one another and that should help
us develop the new bike more quickly," Sakakura
said. "We're also excited about the new regula-
tions, which allow us to do more with the bikes."
The Hayden-Lewis teaming takes that friendly
teammate philosophy to a heretofore unseen
level. Hayden and Lewis have long been friends
and training partners. Hayden has been even
more generous as a friend to Lewis, helping by
taking him in as roommate, both in Kentucky and
Hayden's winter headquarters in California.
"After I graduated from high school last May I
moved in with Roger," Lewis said. "And I live with
him out here in California. Having him as a team-
mate is going to be a big help. From teaching me
lines on the track, to helping me get used to a
1000 and how to setup the bike and what to focus
on. But especially the training part of it and having
him to help me understand how to stay focused
on the race weekends."
