PRESENTED BY MAXXIS, AN AMA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
T
he 41
st
running of the Grand
National Cross-Country
(GNCC) Championship
got underway in Palatka, Florida,
March 8, and little has changed
from the previous edition, with
FMF/KTM's Kailub Russell win-
ning again. Rather easily.
Russell is gunning for his third
consecutive GNCC title and he's
certainly heading in the right
direction, unless someone can
step up their game a notch or
two and give Russell a race. Af-
ter three hours of racing, Russell
took the checkered flag by more
than two-and-a-half minutes
ahead of his nearest competitor,
that being former GNCC champ
Josh Strang. The victory was
Kailub's 23
rd
of his career.
The XC2 division, however,
could be a fight to the finish.
Husqvarna rider Nick Davis
threw the first punch by taking
the win by just 30-plus seconds
over Ricky Russell.
