set little goals but just keep the
focus, at this point."
TOMAC FIGHTS FORWARD
Tomac turned in a scrappy ride.
After getting a bad start, the
GEICO Honda rider moved from
eighth at the end of lap one, to
moving past Weston Peick and
into second on lap 13.
Tomac seemed to struggle
up until the midway point of the
race, but at that point, as he put
it, something just seemed to
"click".
"There was a little light switch
in the main event," Tomac said.
"Not on the start itself, but dur-
ing the moto; I was riding like I
should be and made my way into
second.
"It was a fun battle from the
start," said Tomac. "Obviously

Blake Baggett said that he's spent a
lot more time in California lately, do-
ing testing with the factory Yoshimu-
ra Suzuki RM-Z450, which seems to
have paid off. "That's one of the rea-
sons, I've been going back to Cali-
fornia instead of staying back in Flor-
ida," said Baggett. "We've changed
front, rear-end parts every weekend
since Anaheim. We're still changing
stuff. Just trying to figure it out. I'm
a small dude and it's a big bike. If
you get it out of shape it'll manhandle
you. Just trying to get the geometry
of the bike right so I can ride it. The
easier it is on me then the longer and
the faster you can go on it. We keep
changing things every week."
Long-term, that is the goal, the
championship. But I think the
only thing I can do is come into
each race weekend, race the
track, do what I know how to do
and let the rest play out. If it's a
win, great. If it's not, then try to
be consistent and no major mis-
takes. I definitely want to leave
each and every round with my
best effort and leave everything
on the track. Definitely these
wins are important, especially at
this stage of the game, but also
being able to win back to back, I
felt like that was a good goal to-
night. That was one of my goals
tonight. I won and then didn't
win, won and didn't win. I really
wanted to win back to back. We
Eli Tomac (3) made the best of
a bad start and finished out the
night in second.
