VOL. 52 ISSUE 10 MARCH 10, 2015 P101
Briefly...
For the first time in seven years, Five-
time champ Taddy Blazusiak didn't
line up for an AMA EnduroCross race.
The five-time EnduroCross Champion
and all-time winningest EnduroCross
racer said that he is tired of the gru-
eling international travel schedule and
all the years of flying back and forth to
the U.S, from Spain. He has indicated
he will stay in Europe this year to focus
on winning the FIM SuperEnduro title
as well as compete in other off-road
and extreme enduro events closer to
home.
Cody Webb spoke more about the
technical track after the main event.
"The track was actually not bad, it was
just so sandy," said Webb. "The front
end wanted to tuck everywhere and it
was just really hard staying up on top
of the bike. In a short heat race, six
laps it's not bad, but when you're do-
ing 15 laps it is, with all the obstacles.
I went one time in the Matrix and one
time on the landing of the tire dome.
My hand just completely slid off the
bars. It's hard to ride in the sand any-
way, and then when you throw rocks
and logs in there, it gets really nasty."
In the Women's class, Morgan Tanke
took the win in her first race for the fac-
tory Beta team. She survived a last-lap
battle with Shelby Turner and Tarah
Gieger who finished second and
third, respectfully.
Cooper Abbott took the win in the
Open Amateur class over Quinn Wen-
tzel and Steve Deines. Canada's Ste-
phen Foord won the Vet class ahead
of former top GNCC racer Jason
Raines. Jonny Barber took third. Ty
Cullins had a great battle with Quinn
Wentzel to take the TrialsCross class
win and Chris Venditti took third.
The down side is that EnduroCross lost one of its
iconic riders, Taddy Blazusiak, who will be con-
centrating on SuperEnduro and extreme races in
Europe this year. However, Cody Webb seems to
be the heir apparent to Blazusiak's status at the top
of the EnduroCross hierarchy, and this weekend the
