was definitely the best way to
go, but we were able to turn it
around in the next few tests and
come away with a decent finish."
Steward Baylor, the point
series leader coming into the
race after winning the opener in
Sumter, South Carolina, rode the
Sandlapper in a lot of pain after
having surgery three days before
to repair a broken collarbone.
His doctor plated the bone and
inserted 12 screws to hold it in
place on Thursday afternoon and
Baylor refused any pain pills to
keep his head clear for the race.
"I'm just happy to come away
with some points today," said Bay-
lor. "I just tried to be mindful of my
limits and ride within those and try
to get all the points I could."
Baylor added that he plans
on skipping the first two rounds
of the GNCC series so he can
heal up and be ready for the next
round of the Kenda AMA Na-
tional Enduro Series in Texas on
March 22.
"I'm going to concentrate on
the National Enduro series this
year," said Baylor. "I like this
series and I still think I have a
chance to win it."
Baylor's MotoTech/FLY Rac-
ing KTM teammate Trevor Bol-
linger finished right behind Bay-
lor in ninth, while JCR Honda's
Chris Bach rounded out the top
10 just nine seconds ahead of
AirGroup Racing Husqvarna's
Ryder Lafferty.
With two rounds in the books,
