WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 52 ISSUE 9 MARCH 3, 2015 P69 five laps. Anderson made a stupid mistake and just literally t- boned me. Other than that it was an awesome night, and I look forward to building my speed back up, fitness, and moving on to the future." Peick finished out the night in 10 th . DUELING TEAMMATES Team Honda stable mates Trey Canard and Eli Tomc – the GEICO Honda rider who is riding out of the HRC camp – found themselves just as close on Briefly... cal track and one that you had to stay on your toes. Trey Canard talked about the inconsistency of traction. "It was really slick, the whoops espe- cially," he said. "You couldn't really drive which was tough. There were some parts that were really tacky, but there were parts, like the start straight, that were really, really slip- pery. I thought they did a really good job, though, but I was just expecting it to be a little better." Rookies made a splash in different ways in the 250 class, all falling vic- tim to common mistakes that can be expected in their first year. One of them was GEICO Honda's Jordon Smith, who missed the opening two rounds of the East series with an injury. Smith made his pro debut at Atlanta II, and he had an all-around tough day. He fell multiple times in practice and was unable to qualify for the main event. "It was a rough day, you know?" he said. "I'm leav- ing a little disappointed and sore; I am going to feel sore in the morn- ing. I learned a lot tonight, learned a lot about the whoops, learned a lot about the racing itself. I haven't done a whole lot of racing in the past year, so it's just taking me a little to get into it. I'm looking forward to taking what I learned this week to Daytona next weekend." Another rookie who was running a great race behind Jimmy Decotis was Star Racing Yamaha's Anthony Rodriguez, who got a little over ea- ger and ran into Decotis' back wheel and tipped over. Rodriguez ended up eighth. Another rookie, Luke Renzland, made the top 10 for the first time with a solid ride aboard his Cycle Trader Rock River Yamaha. Marvin Musquin returned to the top step of the podium in the 250 East division.
