P122 40 Years Ago March 4, 1975 We showed our diverse range of motorcycle coverage on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago, saying that we "dial you in" on all forms of racing, riding and testing… Our feature story focused on the Sierra Club and why the orga- nization is so effective compared to the motorcycle industry when it comes to land issues… We tested the 250 Ossa Desert Phantom. It was 207 pounds and very fast!... We continued following the progress on a female trail rider new to the sport of motorcycle riding. 30 Years Ago March 6, 1985 An action photo of the 1985 Honda CR250R was featured on the cover 30 years ago to accompany our test on the mighty red bike… We were on hand at the Atlanta Supercross at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, where Kawasa- ki-mounted Mark Barnett took the win… Jim Tarantino, Australian Jeff Leisk and Phil Larson were the big winners at the CMC Golden State National MX at Lake Madera, California… Mike Melton won the opening round of the AMA National Enduro Series at the Quicksil- ver National in California. 10 Years Ago March 2, 2005 A happy Chad Reed was featured on the cover for winning the San Diego Supercross. Finland's Juha Salminen also got a piece of the cover for win- ning the opening round of the GNCC Series in Florida… Nathan Ramsey was all smiles after winning the 125 main at the San Diego Supercross… We pre- viewed the upcoming Daytona Bike Week, which included an interview with dirt tracker Terry Poovey… We tested one of the latest versions of Harley- Davidson's V-Rod… Nathan Woods got the 2005 WORCS Series started off with a win at Mesquite. It was our Daytona preview special issue… We also had an interview with dirt tracker Steve Morehead, motocrosser Greg Albertyn, road racers Mike Smith and Anthony Gobert, and off-road racer Scott Plessinger… The opening round of the AMA Hare Scrambles Series got underway at Hollister, California, where Ty Davis came away with the victory… Tallon Vohland was the overall winner at the Beaucaire Classic MX in France… Scott Sheak was the winner of the GFI Winter Classic at Perris, California.
