OFF ROAD
KENDA/SRT AMA WEST HARE SCRAMBLES CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
ROUND 2 / FEBRUARY 14-15, 2015
SALINAS RAMBLERS MC GROUNDS / PAICINES, CALIFORNIA
P102
Combined with his runner-up
finish at round one, he now
takes over the series points
standings with 55. FMF/Maxxis/
RPM Racing KTM's Travis Coy
improved to second after scor-
ing fifth at the season opener,
giving him second in points at 41.
Coy's younger brother Justin
Bonita may consider himself
semi-retired after earning the
number-two plate last year,
but he buzzed his IRC Tires/
Garrahan Off-Road Training/
Klim-backed YZ125 around the
technical, relentless 18-mile
afternoon course with aplomb to
secure third place.
Due to more pros and a
smaller start area at the SRMC's
private club grounds than was
available in Arizona, a last-minute
change saw the 27 pros take the
first line with the 13 FMF 250cc
pros shuffled to a second line.
When the green flag flew and
the shotgun went off, Purvines
Racing Beta's Axel Pearson and
Graffunder crowded into the nar-
row chute that served as the first
turn, an uphill right cut out of the
thick surrounding brush. How-
ever, neither came out of it well.
