VOL. 52 ISSUE 7 FEBRUARY 18, 2015 P73
single-file, with Bogle right on
Musquin's rear tire.
Musquin was able to get a
good jump and pull back out to
nearly a four-second lead by the
end of the race.
"I couldn't ask for a better day,"
said Musquin. "To be the fastest
in practice and get the heat race
win with a holeshot and get the
holeshot in the main event and
then win the main event. I knew
I was capable of winning. I'm fit,
I've got a great bike and a great
team; I just had to do the job."
Carrying the number-one
plate, Bogle looked impressive,
as well. The GEICO Honda rider
was just a little off of Musquin's
pace en route to second.
"I got a good start and just tried
to put in solid laps," said Bogle. "I
was a little bit off tonight I felt. I
just had to get through that first
round and move on to the next
one. The first-race jitters out of
the way and all that good stuff.
Marvin rode flawless. I felt like I
didn't make any mistakes behind
him, I just wasn't quite on him. I'm
going to work this week and we'll
be all right."
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Ka-
wasaki's Joey Savatgy capitalized
on a good start and then passed
Anthony Rodriguez on lap 10 to
move into third after spending
most of the race looking for a
way around the Yamalube/Star
Racing Yamaha rider.
The finish marked Savatgy's
first podium.
"I got off to a decent start,"
said Savatgy. "I was able to make
my way around the inside and get
away pretty good. That restart
kind of helped me out, [and] it
kind of didn't. I was kind of in a
groove. I'm just pumped to start
off the season on the box."
Yamalube/Star Racing Yama-
ha rider and defending outdoor
champ, Jeremy Martin was able
to squeeze by JAB Kawasaki's
Matt Lemoine with two laps to go
to finish fourth, while Lemoine
rounded out the top five.
Martin Davalos had hoped to
be a player in the East Regional
Series, but a crash on the open-
ing lap of the main event put a
damper on his plans. The Rock-
star Energy Husqvarna Racing-
backed rider finished the night
in ninth, just behind Monster
Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's
Arnaud Tonus, who was making
his American debut. The Swiss
motocross star was second fast-
est in practice behind Musquin,
but tangled on the first lap with
Davalos and went down. CN
