2015 KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION FIRST RIDE P42 With just 500 units available, KTM will surely sell out of them (as they have all of their previ- ous Factory Edition models), but keep in mind that this year's Factory Edition will, like the oth- ers, evolve into next year's "standard" 450 SX-F. The 2015 SX-F 450 Factory Edition, however, comes at a price. It sells for $10,199, which is not cheap for a production motocross bike, but is a steal for a "works" bike, which the FE es- sentially is. W E I G H T W A T C H E R S Unlike the previous FE models, the 2015 FE is for all intents and purposes an all-new motor- cycle, not just a slightly upgraded version of the standard. It has almost nothing in common with the 2015 450 SX-F. It's much quicker to go over what hasn't changed than vice versa. Only a few parts, like the chain guide, and some of the clutch and front-brake components, are interchangeable between the FE and the standard. Weight reduction was a big part of the bike's redesign. KTM figured out a way to make just about every single part on the motorcycle lighter without compromising integrity. Most of the weight saving comes from the motor, which is far more compact in physical size than the standard motor and is an amazing four pounds lighter! A new lithium battery combined with a smaller elec- tric starting system results in another two-plus- pounds reduction in weight. In all, the Factory (Above) KTM went all out on the 2015 450 SX-F Factory Edition and you'll feel it on the track. (Right) Engine character is one of the FE's best assets—it's powerful, fast and easy to control. It'll fit almost anyone's riding style.
