to be on his way to doing so as
he led the opening lap. At the
start of the second lap, however,
Jarvis lost his footing while pass-
ing through deep water, and con-
sequently drowned his machine.
Walker took over the lead at
that point, as Jarvis returned to
the pits to resuscitate his bike.
After losing about 30 minutes,
Jarvis rejoined the race and at-
tempted to carry on, but the Brit
was forced to call it quits at the
end of the third lap.
It was a tough day for the en-
tire Bel-Ray Husqvarna camp, as
teammate Alfredo Gomez also
suffered damage to his bike that
forced him to retire early from the
race. Their misfortune left the
door wide open for an all-KTM
podium. Spanish rider Mario Ro-
man and Lars Enoeckl of Austria
finished second and third, re-
spectively.
