ROUND 1/FEBRUARY 1, 2015
SUMTER, SOUTH CAROLINA

in a long time, the Ohio rider
rounding out the top five on his
Beta USA-backed Beta 300RR.
"I was kind of up and down all
day, but that's how most enduros
are," said Buttrick. "I didn't get
off to a very good start, I kind of
close-lined myself in the first test
on a vine and hit the deck pretty
hard, which wasn't a good way
to start off the day. I was just try-
ing a bit too hard in the first two
sections. I kind of loosened up
after that and tried not to be too
fancy, and I started to smooth
out and ride better. Overall,
though, I'm really happy to be
in the top five, especially how
stacked the field is."
Former JCR Honda rider
Chris Bach made a rare National
Enduro appearance and came
away with sixth on a Honda, edg-
ing Rockstar Husqvarna Factory
Racing's Josh Strang by just two
seconds for the spot.
Defending series champ
Andrew DeLong was in the mix
for the win midway into the race,
but struggled reading the trail in
the final two tests and dropped
all the way to eighth in the final
results.
"The first four tests went pretty
good and I was doing well, but
then things went downhill in
the fifth and sixth tests," said
DeLong. "I don't want to make
excuses, but it was super hard
to read the trail. I was searching
for arrows and I was just strug-
gling with it. That last trail, I was
off the trail more than I was on it,
and it cost me." CN
