he Holy Grail for motorcycle manu-
facturers is to create the ultimate
do-all type of street bike, and as
of late many have claimed to have just
that. What is the ultimate street bike? In
our eyes one that can be ridden in a va-
riety of situations and perform well in all
without the feeling of pushing the bike
past its limits. It should have quick han-
dling in the canyons yet have a smooth
ride on the long haul, powerful engine
character for more aggressive riding
while at the same time being tame
enough to use on the daily commute to
and from work. You need a comfortable
cockpit with plenty of creature comfort
features for a long road trip but you also
don't want that same bike to be bulky
and overweight where it's hard to ma-
neuver. Well, we might have just found
that perfect do-it-all bike after riding the
FJ-09 for the first time in the hills well
north of Los Angeles, where Yamaha
introduced the bike to the press.
