raising it to 33.9 inches. The FZ-09,
for example, has a fixed 32.1-inch
seat height.
The FJ-09 is fitted with dual LED
headlights that are very bright, and
the beams can be adjusted via two
plastic knobs located behind the
fairing if you're carrying a passenger
and/or full saddlebags.
Yamaha currently offers over 30
different accessories specifically
for the new FJ-09. My FJ-09 was
fitted with two of them: heated grips
and saddlebags, and, to be honest,
I'm surprised that these two things
aren't standard equipment. They
pretty much go hand in hand with
any kind of sport touring or adven-
ture type riding, which this bike is
designed to do. Yamaha's bags
and heated grips will set you back
approximately $1300. The hard
bags are quality pieces, however;
they are both slim in design and
seem durable. They are also easy to
remove. I tried fitting a standard full
face helmet in the bags but no luck,
possibly a modular helmet in the
flipped up position would fit.
The FJ-09 comes in two, and
what I think are great looking colors:
Matte Grey and Candy Red, and
both models retail for $10,490.
I have to admit, after spending
the day riding the all-new 2015
Yamaha FJ-09, I can honestly say
that I could live with this motorcycle
and be completely happy no matter
what type of riding I'm doing. The
FJ has everything I look for in a
motorcycle and then some. It has
comfort, sporty power, good adjust-
ability, superb handling, great looks
and plenty of features. I wouldn't
be surprised at all if an FJ-09—my
own FJ-09—winds up in my garage
