2015 YAMAHA FJ-09 FIRST RIDE P64 which we certainly experienced. During our ride, we had a decent amount of rain and were able to get a feel for what B-mode had to offer. I was actually very surprised by how well the "mellow" map worked while still having a decent amount of excitement. B-mode passed the rain test with fly- ing colors and would also be good for commuting and heavy traffic situations as it is buttery smooth. The FZ-09 has few flaws, but one of them is fairly large: spikey on/off throttle, especially in the standard and aggressive engine modes. Luckily, Yamaha addressed and, thankfully, pretty much fixed this fueling issue. The FJ's fuel delivery is way more refined than the FZ's. The FJ has very little of that herky-jerky on-off throttle response of the FZ. The FJ's traction control has two settings, off and on. We found out firsthand how well the trac- tion control works when the roads got slick. As soon as the electronics sense that the rear wheel is breaking loose it activates the TC in a smooth, non-intrusive manner. But thankfully when the road conditions are prime and you want to get su- per aggressive, the traction control can be easily turned off via a button on the LCD screen allow- ing you, the rider, to take full control of the power delivery.
