he ended up going over the Tuff
Blocks and got screwed up. It
was cool and we're good bud-
dies. We both train with Gareth
Swanepoel, so he was okay with
it."
Coming into the season, Bow-
ers had shown his ability to win
at this level when he won the Li-
tes division in Las Vegas in 2013.
Justin Hill was a favorite, as well,
having won the East-West shoot-
out at Vegas this past year. And
while Webb had proven himself
capable of winning an outdoor
national, he was still unproven
when it came to Supercross.
As for Webb, he had no doubts
about his abilities.
"I think I've improved a lot at
Supercross and I think now I'm
as good at it as I am at out-
doors," he said. "It just boils
down to experience. I've learned
my bike and I've matured and
everything is clicking now, and
when it clicks… that's what it's
all about.
"I felt coming into the season
that I was honestly the guy to
beat. I had a really good off-sea-
son. We tested and I think our
bike is the best bike out there.
We had a killer outdoor season
and I just feel this is my second
season in Supercross and I just
feel it's time to win."
Now that he's got the points
lead, the pressure will be to
keep it.
"We'll just keep doing what
we're doing and take it race by
race," said Webb. "We've still
got a long way to go so we'll try
to get these wins and go from
there."
For years, Webb has been
working with "The Professor"
Gary Bailey, and that relation-
ship is still intact, although Webb
says it's getting harder to stay
connected now that the season
has started.
"I'm still working with Gary and
he's definitely made me what I
am today," he said. "It's more dif-
ficult working with him, now that
the season has started, but he's
still a big part of my program."CN
"I THINK I'VE
IMPROVED A LOT AT
SUPERCROSS AND I
THINK NOW I'M AS
GOOD AT IT AS I AM
AT OUTDOORS. IT
JUST BOILS DOWN
TO EXPERIENCE. I'VE
LEARNED MY BIKE
AND I'VE MATURED
AND EVERYTHING IS
CLICKING NOW…"
Webb feels
that he's up
to speed in
Supercross
and is looking
for those wins.
