2015 YAMAHA YZ250FX RIDING IMPRESSION P64 means that it has no off-road- sticker eligibility. The FX is pretty much a YZ250F ready to go GNCC rac- ing (well, almost ready. We'll get to that later). Compared to the YZ, the FX is nearly the same motorcycle. The FX shares the YZ's engine, with its reversed a motocross bike and convert it into an off-road racer yourself, but Yamaha has done all of that converting work for you with the FX, including doing some things that you'd never be able to do to your YZ on your own, like install a six-speed tranny. Yamaha markets the FX as a closed-course competition bike, which means it falls under the same EPA and CARB jurisdic- tion as a motocross bike, so you don't see any smog equipment or throttle stops on this bike. No way. Instead, it's completely "un- plugged" (unlike the WR250F). Unfortunately for some, this also (Above) The FX doesn't look much different than the YZ250F, that's because it's not. But it does have a couple of important differences like electric starting and a six-speed gearbox. (Below) With a kickstand, you can park the FX almost anywhere. The 18-inch rear wheel is standard.
