Colton Udall who'd left the start a distant
last.
"My bike—I kicked it wrong or
something. I got a little excited and
snapped the throttle or something," Udall
admitted. "I'll figure that out. I stayed
persistent and passed, like, 10 or 12
dudes on the first lap, maybe more. I was
pinning it!"
A mid-race lapse he attributed to
mismanaging his efforts plus arm pump
found Udall maintaining fifth for a while
working on Thompson, but he shook that
off to move into fourth and close on Bell
for the final podium spot, stealing that on
the last lap.
"I'm super-happy; I didn't expect a
podium [after that start]," Udall said.
However, Sutherlin was probably
happiest after taking the lead for good just
