Long-travel suspension and new gas/oil suspension systems were all the
rage by the mid-'70s, and we took a close look at some of this new and excit-
ing technology for off-road and motocross racing… We featured three bike
tests, including the Honda XL125 K1 playbike, the Honda CR125 M1 moto-
crosser and the Yamaha DT 400 B dual purpose… We explored the myth of
the "safe" family enduro after a young rider
died from a crash in the Southern California
desert.

there when Ward took top honors in the 250cc class at the Golden State

125cc class and Broc Glover the 500cc class… Bob Hannah (250cc), Jeff
Friz (125cc) and JoJo Keller (500cc) were the stars at the Florida Winter-
AMA MX at Gainesville, Florida… ATK's Chris Crandall got a piece of the
cover for winning the Whiskey Pete's World
Championship Hare & Hound in Nevada.

The 2005 AMA Supercross Series got off to a wet, cold and muddy start at
Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, where Amsoil/Honda's Kevin Windham
came away with the dirty win. KTM's Nathan Ramsey won the 125cc class.
The race also featured the return of Honda-mounted Jeremy McGrath (it
was his first SX start in two years) and James Stewart's debut in the big-bike
class. McGrath DNF'd and Stewart (Kawasaki) finished fifth… Ben Spies was
the fastest at the Daytona Tire Test.
