VOL. 52 ISSUE 1 JANUARY 6, 2015 P39
Briefly...
Noticeably absent from the 2015
Monster Energy AMA Supercross
Series opener was Yoshimura Suzu-
ki's James Stewart who is serving
a 16-month FIM ban for testing posi-
tive for a banned substance (Adder-
all, prescribed to him by his doctor),
following last year's Seattle Super-
cross. Unfortunately, Stewart failed
to complete the proper paperwork to
obtain a therapeutic use exemption
(TUE) for the prescription, which he
has since obtained. The FIM's deci-
sion to punish Stewart came just a
few weeks before A1, negating a full
off-season of testing and prepping for
the 2015 Supercross season. Stew-
art is appealing the FIM's decision
but as it stands now, he still cannot
race until the end of August. Stew-
art, however, did attend the A1 race
to sign autographs and mingle with
his fans. Many of Stewart's peers
said that they were disappointed that
Stewart could not compete, saying
while rules are rules the punishment
did not fit the crime. Stewart's Yo-
shimura Suzuki Team says that he is
expected to openly address the situ-
ation via a video.
There was a chance that Broc Tick-
le might not ever race again after his
crash at the Toronto Supercross last
year. He suffered neck and back inju-
ries that left his racing career in doubt.
But the RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy
Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing team
rider, returned at Anaheim I like nothing
ever happened at all. He looked solid
all night and ended up finishing an im-
pressive eighth in the 450 main event.

Ken Roczen
proved his
doubters wrong
by repeating
last year's A1
performance
with another
win, this time on
a new bike and
team.
