ine thousand screaming fans flocked to
Barcelona's Palau Sant Jordi stadium to
see Marc Márquez try to win the second
Superprestigio indoor flat track race. They got
what they came for, Márquez beating AMA Grand
National champ Jared Mees in a tough final, after
a night of spectacle more typically seen at Super-
cross than at a dirt oval. The final was almost as
perfectly scripted as the rest of the evening, work-
ing out the way Márquez had hoped and intend-
ed when he first sat down with Jaime Algersuari
(founding editor of Spanish magazine Solo Moto)
to talk about the pictures of a dirt track race he
had seen in some old magazines he had found.
The only missing ingredient this time around in
the Superfinal—Superprestigio's main event—was
the winner of the inaugural race, Brad Baker. Bak-
er had crashed during qualifying, dislocating his
shoulder in the process. He hit some bumps go-
ing into turn three, which threw him off the bike.
"I just flicked her in there and the rear tire
caught," Baker explained. "That planted me on
