hile the respective achievements of four-
time AMA Superbike king Josh Hayes and
Daytona SportBike champ Jake Gagne
were certainly notable, the unquestioned head-
line story of 2014 in regards to the American
roadracing scene was the blockbuster acquisi-
tion of AMA Pro Road Racing by KRAVE Group
LLC, who promptly rebranded the series the Mo-
toAmerica AMA/FIM North American Motorcycle
Road Racing Championship.
The news was greeted with an immediate sense
of genuine optimism–something long since miss-
ing from the scene. And that initial positivity has
only been further ingrained with each successive
announcement. That said, it's far too early to tell if
this particular blockbuster will prove more A New
Hope or Mission Impossible.
The general consensus seems to be 'if anyone
can do it, they can,' and the Wayne Rainey-front-
ed team is undeniably stacked with major players
