OFF ROAD 7 TH ANNUAL KENDA OZARK 100 NOVEMBER 29, 2014 HARDWOOD HILLS RANCH/MANSFIELD, MISSOURI P98 Fahringer spent much of the first two races chasing his sus- pension setup, however, he fi- nally got a setting he liked for the night race and turned in an excel- lent ride to finish second behind Baylor. "I had a pretty good light setup from Task racing, so I was con- fident going into the night race," said Fahringer. "I just didn't get a good jump off the line, and was behind Zach Ingram for part of the first lap. I revved my bike un- til Ingram moved over and then I was pretty much riding by myself because Steward pretty much checked out at the beginning. "I was able to close in on Stu a bit on the last lap, and I caught him on the gnarly uphill element, but then I lost over a minute when I got hung up about halfway up the climb." Zach Ingram and fellow KTM rider Drew Higgins went back and forth over the fourth place position during the first two rac- es, with Higgins getting fourth in race one, while Ingram was fourth in the afternoon race. Hig- gins knocked a hole in his clutch cover during the night race, how- ever, and DNFed, leaving Ingram a clear path to fourth overall after going 5-4-4 for the day. "That was the gnarliest thing I've ever done," said Ingram. "I maxed out my heart rate several times tonight. The trails were su- per fun; it's just that the special tests were pretty tough." Veteran off-road racer and multi-time Missouri Hare Scram- bles champion Steve Leivan fin- ish a solid fifth overall. The KTM rider had some of the best lines in the "Something Special" el- ement, and made a couple of pretty impressive rides up gnarly hills that even the top riders were struggling with. "The first 50 miles were just kind of a grind," said Leivan. "It's hard to pass here, but luckily I got good starts here and most of the time I was just behind the five fast guys. I rode better than I expected in the night race. I've never done a race like this on a two-stroke, but I ended up riding right through all the hard parts without much of a problem. I got hung up at the top of one of the hills and lost lots of time, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out." CN 1. Steward Baylor (KTM) 2. Ian Blythe (KTM) 3. Nick Fahringer (Hus) 4.
