IN THE WIND P24 BAYLOR ON HIS OWN F ormer National Enduro Cham- pion and FMF/KTM Team rid- er Steward Baylor says he's form- ing his own off-road team for the 2015 season. Since winning the enduro title in 2012, Steward has been bogged down by injuries. Baylor says he will continue riding KTMs and will employ an- other rider, Trevor Bollinger. Their plan is to follow the AMA National Enduro Series and GNCC Se- ries, and compete in select one- off races, such as the Tennessee Knockout. "Right now we're working with a trailer company to be our title sponsor, but nothing is final- ized yet," said Bay- lor. "We'll still have support from KTM, as well as Fly Racing and FMF. "Trevor was bril- liant in the GNCC Series last year, and I expect he will do well in the en- duro series, although it will take some time for him to adapt, he's never even had Bark Busters on his bike before," said Baylor. Baylor says he's finally healthy and 100-percent ready to go rac- ing again. "I really want to say I can come back and win my title back," said Baylor. "I've stepped up my train- ing program and I'm in the best shape of my life, so I'm looking for a good year. I've definitely had my share of injuries and it's been a long and bumpy ride, but I think right now everything is shaping up like I want it." Shan Moore DAYTONA 200 ROLE CALL F ollowing the announcement that the Daytona 200 will still run in 2015 under American Sport- Bike Racing Association sanctioning, the question of factory participation soon followed. The answer at this early date seems to be unlikely. A Yoshimura Suzuki spokesperson said recently that they wouldn't be participating in the 200. "We're putting our focus in running in the MotoAmerica Se- ries," said Yoshimura team coordinator Rich Doan. Yamaha is non-committal at this point. Yamaha's racing manager Keith McCarty had been reached for comment, but said since the announcement is still early, a definite decision hasn't been made yet. "We have to talk about it," McCarty said. "We have no plan at this time." GEICO Honda team owner John Ulrich didn't rule out racing his squad in the 200 simply saying, "I don't know yet. It depends on the TV package and sponsor support." RoadRace Factory/Red Bull Yamaha's Danny Walker said it would be tough to fit the race into the team's budget. "[I] really doubt it," Walker said before adding. "Unless somebody has a budget for us to show up for a one-off race. We have too many additional costs for this season already."
