teven Godman wasn't
sure what to expect when
he left Northern Califor-
nia, pointing his truck south to
Elsinore Motorsports Park for
the eighth and final round of the
AMA District 37/GPR Stabilizer
Big 6 Grand Prix Series and its
AMA West Coast Grand Prix Se-
ries feature event.
In two previous visits to the
series, he'd notched a best fin-
ish of fifth so he hoped to im-
prove on that and maybe earn a
spot on the podium.
But after 90 minutes of rac-
ing, he found himself at the front
of the field, taking his first ca-
reer Big 6 triumph aboard his
Mach 1 Motorsports/Campbell
Brothers Racing/MSR-backed
YZ250. WCGP Pro II winner
Nick Stover took second over-
all with Pro II runner-up Gordon
Keller third overall.
Rain earlier in the week and
fog on Saturday morning meant
the reclaimed lake bottom track
stayed slimy for much of the first
day, but it kept drying nicely as
the weekend progressed at the
Vikings Motorcycle Club's 10th
Annual Vikings GP.
The club was limited in what
sort of course it could lay out so
it ended up basically stringing
the main track, the vet track and
