IN THE WIND P34 YOUNG TAKES ROOF OF AFRICA WIN H ard enduro's finest traveled south of the equa- tor, and back into summer, to Lesotho, Africa, for the 2014 Roof of Africa. Three long days of competition and exceptionally hard terrain meant that the notorious event lived up to its fearsome reputation. Graham Jarvis tried to defend his num- ber-one plate, but the Husqvarna rider found it diffi- cult to rebound after drowning his bike on day one. KTM's Wade Young ended the event on top, claim- ing his second victory in "The Roof" by dominating all three days. The South African made history in 2012 when he became the youngest rider to win the event, and he is fast becoming one of the top hard enduro riders in the world. Fellow South Af- rican Brett Swanepoel piloted his KTM to second place while Jarvis rode to a well-earned third. KTM's Wade Young took his second career victory at the 2014 Roof Of Africa, dominating all three days of the extreme enduro. PHOTOGRAPHY BY KTM RACING 2 ND ANNUAL KURT CASELLI RIDE DAY F ollowing the one-year anniversary of Kurt Caselli's tragic death, hundreds once again gathered at Glen Helen Raceway to remember him and celebrate his life. The event also served as an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of the Kurt Caselli Foundation—the organization that came together in his memory with the goal of "protecting and support- ing the lives of off-road riders." In less than one year, the Kurt Caselli Foundation has already amassed an impressive list of accomplishments, which board members Nancy and Carolyn Caselli, Sarah Jean White, Christy LaCurelle, Jon-Erik Burleson and Don- ny Emler talked about at the event. Following a raffle and silent auction (both ben- efitting the Kurt Caselli Foundation), the event held its signature parade lap. But most of the day was filled with open riding and fun on the motocross track, Glen Helen's notorious hillclimb section, and on a highly praised off-road loop laid out by Ivan Ramirez, Erek Kudla and Quinn Cody. "It means a lot to have everyone out here," said Kurt's mother, Nancy. "It warms my heart—all the love and support. Every day I get new emails and notes on how Kurt affected people's lives. He'd be so proud of what we're doing. It means a lot per- sonally, and for the foundation that we started in his honor. The love is amazing."
